With many of the Pan American Athletes noting the fierce competition, tricky conditions and short courses, there was no room for error at the 2007 Pan-American games in Rio De Janeiro , Brazil . Congratulations are in order for the performance of all Canadian athletes. Canadians making it to 6 of the 9 medal races, Dominique Vallée from Quebec took home the Gold in the RS:X and Rossi Milev, Mike Wolfs, Mark Goodyear, and Erwyn Naidoo from Ontario taking home Bronze in the J24.

Uncooperative winds postponed and nearly cancelled the Medal Races.  Metal races starting less than an hour before the cutoff time after a massive wind shift that brought rain, the pressure was on for all athletes to be on top of there game.  The all star J24 Team of Rossi Milev, Mike Wolfs, Mark Goodyear, and Erwyn Naidoo from Ontario having never placed better than third had to do well to make the podium. Spectacularly rising to the occasion for the Medal race dominating the fleet all the way around the course secured the Bronze Medal ahead of Uruguay . What a remarkable way to finish a high profile international regatta.
