Please submit ( this application form)  to the Executive Director (execdir@ontariosailing.ca ) and Program Director (ucansail@ontariosailing.ca) via email, mail and/or faxed applications   For 2008, applications must be received no later than Friday April 4th 12:00 Noon, 2008.  Late submissions will not be considered.    Athletes must not be on the Canadian Sailing Team for the current competition year   Athletes must be Ontario residents or have a primary residence in Ontario for at least 8 monthsfor the currentt competition year   Athletes must not be competing or attempting to compete for other jurisdictions per that competition year   Athlete results and dedication to training will be considered for qualification to the team. Only results where the athlete placed in the top half of the registered fleet will be used for team selection evaluation. All other finishes will not be considered.   For 2008 and beyond, athletes must participate at one of the following:   CORK (consisting of a minimum of 3 races to count) or the National Qualifying Regatta or the Class North Americans plus one of the 4 Ontario Racing Series regattas.   Membership:  Skill development is encouraged from the Teams supported classes and are based on the Olympic qualification boats for the current and, where relevant, next quadrennial as follows:   Single Handed Male Laser 4 members Female Laser Radial 4 members Double Handed Male Olympic Classes 4 members Female Olympic Classes 4 members Other Male or Female who meet the criteria that do not fit into the above categories  up to 4 members   Where there are insufficient numbers of Olympic class applicants, athletes sailing Classes that are used in Youth Worlds or Canada Games classes will be considered   Support and Fees:  OST fees are $400 per person (tax deductible) and cover the following items:   Coaching and Skill Development with the Centre Coach and HP Coordinator: On- and off-water coaching at training and competition events    One winter camp coaching, typically held in Florida as part of Winter training Two team camps – one in the spring and one in the fall with the centre’s’ Coordinated planning for skill-building with primary training coach   Fitness Development: Sailing and fitness training plan consultations at the Centres A to be determined payment from Ontario Sailing for nutrician and fitness testing at your training center Regatta Logistics Support: Top priority for the athlete’s boat and equipment on the OST trailer for camps and regattas Travel plan assistance for group team travel to distant regattas   Fundraising Support: Access to funding opportunities – more information available at www.ontariosailing.ca/Racing/Ontario_Sailing_Team/OST_Funding.php  Access to CYA Financial Assistance Program for tax-receipt issuing fundraising receipts Letter of reference from Ontario Sailing for personal fundraising initiatives or personal background checks, such as education or employment applications Quest for Gold funding application assistance   Notes:  For your information, please note: Athletes selected for the team must commit to their team camp, training and competitive plan for the remainder of their selection to the OST or face removal from the team subject to the discretion of the OST coach Athletes must sign the Athlete Agreement per that competition year Calculations of athletes’ results will be carried out according to the overall results at the regatta and team selections will be made by ranking qualifying athletes in descending order according to their overall scoring positions.
