The 2009 Canada Summer Games is fast approaching. The games will be hosted by the Silver Fox Yacht Club in
Summerside
PEI
. The fleets for the games have been selected including the 29er; Laser and Laser Radial (please see the technical package attached).
In 2007 we were able to hire Matthieu Dubreucq to work with our 29er sailors at a number of camps and regattas. Matt has an outstanding racing record in the 29er and 49er classes and is a level 3 coach. For 2008 Matt has joined
Ontario Sailing
once again in the position of High Performance Coordinator working with our Training Centre partners and their athletes.
For 2008 a number of training camps will be held by invitation for the Laser, Laser Radial and 29er classes. We will partner with TSCC and RHYC to hold two test events one at Ice Breakers and the other at Lilac Festival. These regattas will give athletes a chance to get to know the sailing conditions expected at each location and also for the Centre
Coach
s and Matt to evaluate potential sailors for participation in this years training camps. The actual selections will be made in 2009 at Ice Breakers and Lilac Festival and information will be posted in early 2009 on the process used for scoring.
As part of the excitement of the Games, Ontario Sailing will be selecting a Team Manager and Team
Coach
to travel with the Team to
PEI
. The technical package requires us to select a male and female with level 3 (or higher) NCCP levels. This selection process will be posted closer to this summer so as to allow the coaches to work with potential athletes this year.
